Rural Rate Relief from Business Rates
The Government has introduced a scheme to assist businesses in rural areas (also known as rural settlements).
- Mandatory Rural Rate Relief - Some properties will qualify for Mandatory Relief which means that they will automatically qualify for a set reduction.
- Discretionary Rural Rate Relief - The Council may also grant Discretionary Relief to businesses that are of benefit to the local community.
What is a Rural Settlement?
A Rural Settlement is classed as an area in the district with a population of less than 3000. The list of Rural Settlements in North East Derbyshire is available for inspection at Council House, Saltergate, Chesterfield.
