Discretionary Relief
The Council also has the discretion to reduce all or part of the charge on other properties in rural settlements if the Rateable Value is 16,500 or less. We must be satisfied that the business benefits local residents, and that the business would suffer if the Discretionary Relief was not awarded.
Whenever Discretionary Relief is granted there is a cost to North East Derbyshire Council Tax payers. The Council must therefore balance the benefit to the business with the cost to the community when considering all applications.
How to Apply
Please contact the Revenues section to request an application form(details below).
We will ask you to provide us with copies of your last two years audited accounts, and will invite you to put a case forward, in your own words, as to why you should be granted this relief.
