Paying your Council Tax by Direct Debit
You can set up a direct debit online or over the telephone
If you wish to set it up online then you can do this by using our self service system.
If you would prefer to speak to someone to set it up then please contact Customer Services (details below).
Direct Debit is the easiest and cheapest method of making payment, both for you and for us. In addition, by reducing administration costs, paying by Direct Debit helps to keep the level of everyone's bill down.
Paying your Council Tax by Direct Debit also gives you more choice over when to pay your bill, as instalments can be set up for the 5th, the 15th or the 28th of each month (all other payments are due on the 10th of each month only).
Once you have set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax, it will carry on from year to year unless you decide to cancel it. And, because it automatically stops when your payments have finished, there’s no need to cancel it and set up a new instruction each year (unlike Standing Orders).
When you agree to pay by Direct Debit you are automatically covered by the Direct Debit guarantee, open the file below for more details.
