Ways to Reduce your Council Tax Bill
Council Tax bills may be reduced in the following ways:
Discounts
Discounts can reduce the amount payable where there are less than 2 adults counted as living in a household. Some adults are disregarded depending on their circumstances. A discount may also be available for a property that is unoccupied and no-one's main home.

Exemptions
Exemptions are available to cancel the Council Tax charge altogether and are based on the circumstances of the property.

Reductions for Disabled Resident

Claiming Benefits
If you are on a low income you may be able to claim Council Tax Benefit which is a means tested allowance. Our Benefits Section gives a full explanation of this allowance and how to claim it.
