Silkston Design Statement
Design guidelines aim to ensure quality in Silkston development.
The Silkston site, which is on the former Maximus site in Clay Cross is a key development site within the district of North East Derbyshire.
The site, is owned by developers Maximus, who are looking to create a mixed-use development on the site, incorporating housing, employment and green space.
As a key site, the Council is keen to ensure that any development taking place there is of the highest quality, and so commissioned Maxim Urban Design to produce a Design Statement for the site. The consultants worked with the Council, stakeholders and Maximus when developing the document, which was produced in December 2010.
The document sets out the Council's vision for the site, including a list of design objectives that we would like to se met. These are:
- Urban Quality;
- Community Cohesion
- Sustainable Transport
- Learning Environments
- Equity
- Environmental Quality
The document will now be used to influence and inform all future developments on the site. The full document can be downloaded below.
