About CHART LSP

A montage of various activities and services.
CHART LSP has been the Local Strategic Partnership for Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire since May 2002, evolving out of the CHART (CHesterfield Area Regeneration Team) Economic Development Partnership that had operated in the area since 1993, delivering a local Single Regeneration Budget Programme.

Our Vision
CHART LSP is an established, effective partnership between the public, private, community and voluntary sectors, and this is essential in order meet the overall vision of the LSP’s Community Strategy for Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire:

'To improve the quality of life for people in Chesterfield Borough and North East Derbyshire so that residents, workers and visitors can benefit from what the area has to offer.'

North Derbyshire Jobs & Training Fair 2011

North Derbyshire Jobs & Training Fair
Eager job seekers were queuing long before the event started at CHART LSP’s annual Jobs and Training Fair at the Winding Wheel on 29th September. 492 members of the public attended during the day visiting 47 stallholders, who represented 50 different organisations that operate in the area.

Figures show stalls received 1591 enquiries on the day, 396 of which were followed up by partners.  So far 8 people have gained employment, 41 people have taken up training or apprenticeships and 22 people have started volunteering with organisations as a direct result of attending the Fair. Other organisations are starting to recruit people for jobs and training for posts that will be created this year.

BBC Radio Sheffield ran a live broadcast from the event on which they interviewed Steve Lee, CHART LSP Co-ordinator and Helen Mason from Turning Point (see article below).

Mike Taylor, CHART LSP Chair said "This year’s event has been well attended by both stallholders and members of the public alike, and we have received some very positive comments.

In the current economic climate it is great for local people to have access to the opportunities open to them housed under one roof, and for organisations to be able to network and make the contacts they need to develop strong partnership working."

Following the success of this event, CHART are starting plans for 2012's fair, provisionally to be held in June/July.

The 2011 event was funded through Chesterfield Borough Council Working Neighbourhoods Fund and supported by NEDDC and Jobcentre Plus.

CHART LSP November Forum

Delegates at the LSP Forum Nov 11
Mike Taylor, Chair of CHART LSP welcomed over 60 partners from a wide range of organisations at the second LSP Forum of 2011 which took place at the Winding Wheel on 4th November.  Delegates received updates on the LSP Flagship Projects and presentations about the planned projects under the Access to Fresh Food and Helping People into Employment strands. Presentation slides can be viewed below.

Discussion groups were tasked with identifying needs and issues around these initiatives and how their organisations would be able to support activity. The LSP Team has collated all the comments from the groups and these will be used to identify additional offers of support from partners and to inform progression of projects. Responses to Issues can be viewed below.

Feedback from evaluation forms completed on the day show that 91% rated the presentations as above average or excellent,  81% found discussion groups very useful, 86% said they had used the event as a networking opportunity and 84% felt they could contribute to LSP Plans.

Turning Point hospital facility to create 88 jobs

A specialist hospital at Mastin Moor, Chesterfield is set to create 88 new jobs. The new facility, run by the health and social care organisation Turning Point, provides services for people with complex needs.

Chesterfield Borough Council has worked alongside Turning Point, Jobcentre Plus and Chesterfield College to ensure local people can apply for the jobs and training opportunities coming forward.

Two recruitment days have been organised for 6th February at Chesterfield Winding Wheel and 8th February at Staveley Speedwell Rooms, both days start at 10.30am until approximately 12.30pm. Chesterfield Jobcentre Plus has also set up a recruitment hotline for the development and anyone interested can telephone 01246 343191 for information on the job vacancies available.

Keeping Partners Connected

Partners are encouraged to work together to address issues that they cannot address in isolation. CHART LSP's new Flagship Approach aims to utilise partner inputs more efficiently and effectively in projects, of a narrower focus with broader impact.

In addition, we bring a wider audience of people together for our bi-annual Forum to share best practice, address key issues and new developments.

We produce an e-newsletter to keep partners updated on project activities and the latest news.  Previous copies can be found in the Previous Activity, Newsletters page of our website.
