What are Community Partnerships?

Community Partnerships are a way for you to influence the decisions that affect the places where you live and the public services available to you.  There are eight Community Partnership areas that cover the whole of the district.

The Community Partnerships bring together all of the key stakeholders - residents, the council, the police, the health service, public services, voluntary and community Groups, faith communities and businesses.

Who can join the Community Partnerships?

Community Partnership meetings are open to anybody who lives, works, learns or represents the area.  They are usually held in local schools, churches, community centres, village halls or public buildings.

You do not have to register beforehand, if you want to come along to your local Community Partnership meeting - you can just turn up.  But if you would like to register, we can send you updates via email, post or text messages.

How do the meetings work and who runs them?

Each meeting usually starts at 6:30pm unless otherwise stated.  Occasionally, a Community Partnership may have a themed meeting to focus on one issue for that area for example anti-social behaviour, health or highways.

Where questions have been asked at the meetings, we will aim to provide feedback either at the following meeting or we can contact the individual or organisation direct.  You will need to leave your contact details with a Link Officer.  Sometimes an organisation will be invited to come to the next meeting to give a presentation to explain an answer in more detail.

Each Community Partnership has a dedicated Link Officer who is a senior NEDDC manager.  The Link Officer attends each meeting to ensure that any issues raised or questions asked are dealt with appropriately.

The Chair of each Community Partnership is a North East Derbyshire District Council Cabinet Member and they are nominated by the Leader of the Council.  Each Community Partnership also has a Vice Chair, who is nominated and voted in by members of the Community Partnership.

The Community Partnership meetings are run jointly with your local Safer Neighbourhood TeamsThey are there to give an update on what’s happening in your area to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, and to set priorities for the area to tackle it's individual issues.  They will also try to answer any questions you may have for them regarding policing matters.

Why get involved?

Attending your local Community Partnership allows you to:

  • Influence where local policing is focussed
  • Question local councillors, police officers, health service representatives and youth workers about the services you receive
  • Contribute to key local projects

Where should I send in my ideas for items to be discussed at the meeting?

You can send any ideas you have to the Community Partnership Team.  It might be that you would like to do a presentation regarding something that has been happening in your area such as a successful play scheme; or you would like to advertise something that is beneficial to the community; or you want to know more information about a service and have a officer at the meeting that can answer you questions.

Where is my local Community Partnership?

You can find out which Community Partnership area you live in by using the Postcode Search or by taking a look at the map at the bottom of the page.  If you click on a area it will take you to that Community Partnership page.

When do meetings taking place?

Each Community Partnership has quarterly meetings which usually take place around March, June, September and December.  You can find out when your next Community Partnership meeting is on the Partnership Events page.
