Race Equality Scheme
NEDDC is commited to eliminating unlawful discrimination and promoting racial equality and good race realtions when carrying out its functions to ensure our services are accessible to all and comply with the requirements under The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.
NEDDC published their first Race Equality Scheme in November 2002 which set out the direction the authority would take over the next three years. Public authorities must review their Race Equality Scheme to comply with this duty.
Equalities is a high priority for North East Derbyshire District Council both as an employer and in the way that our services are delivered to the community. Our vision is a corporate culture based on trust and mutual respect where people value each other and treat each other with dignity.
To ensure equality of access to services we are committed to embedding equality into all our policies and practices practices.
The Council has made a commitment to adopt the Commission for Racial Equality Standards for Local Government and has declared level one of Equality Standard for Local Authorities.
The Council has recently reviewed it's Race Equality Scheme and incorporated our action plan in to our Corporate Equality Strategy.
We intend to carry out a series of consultations over the next few months on our equality programme which may influence our approach but would not change the commitment contained within the scheme.
