What is the Voluntary and Community Sector?
The Voluntary and Community Sector (sometimes referred to as the third sector) includes registered charities, non-profit making organisations, faith groups and community groups. The majority of the groups are supported by dedicated volunteer workers who make an invaluable and essential contribution towards the day to day running of the organisation and well being of the District.
How does the council work with and support these organisations?
North East Derbyshire District Council recognises and values the work of the Voluntary and Community Sector in contributing towards our corporate ambitions and priorities which are:
- Listening to our citizens to provide quality services.
- Improving the quality and affordability of homes for local people.
- Supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
- Improving people’s health.
- Improving people’s skills to help them into decent jobs.
- Supporting the regeneration of our towns and villages.
- Improving the environment.
- Reducing crime, fear of crime and antisocial behaviour.
The voluntary and community sector is a very important part if life in the district. The council has a good relationship with the sector and often invites tenders or applications from the sector to provide services on behalf of the council.
The council is keen to assist the Sector. To help achieve this the council developed an application process for voluntary and community sector agencies to apply for grant funding to provide their services across North East Derbyshire.
