Community Partnerships
Get involved in your local Community Partnerships
What are Community partnerships?
Community Partnerships were introduced at the beginning of 2008 and were a way forward from Neighbourhood Partnerships, which did not cover the whole of the district.
Community Partnerships are a way for you to influence the decisions that affect the places where you live and the public services available to you. There are 8 different Community partnership areas that cover the whole of the district.
The Partnerships brings together all of the key stakeholders - residents, the council, the police, the health service, public services, voluntary and community groups, faith communities and businesses.
Who can join the Community Partnerships?
Partnership meetings are open to anybody who lives, works, learns or represents the area. They are usually held in local schools, community centres or village halls and normally start at 6:30pm.
You don't have to register beforehand, if you want to come along to your local Partnership - you can just turn up. But if you would like to register, we can send you updates via email, post or text messages.
Where is my Local Community Partnership?
You can find out which Partnership area you live in by using the Postcode Search or take a look at the map attached at the bottom of the page.
When are the meetings taking place?
Each meeting usually has quarterly meetings which take place in April/May, July, September and December/January. For a list of dates for the next round of partnership meetings use this link: Partnership Events.
How do the meetings work and who runs them?
Each meeting usually starts at 6:30pm unless otherwise stated. Sometimes a partnership may have a themed meeting to focus on one issue for that area for example a meeting might have a theme on Health or Highways. Feedback is given at each meeting where questions can not be answered at the previous meeting, or an officer in that service area is invited to come to a meeting to explain in more detail.
The Chair of each Community Partnership is a Cabinet member nominated by the Leader of the Council. They also have a Vice Chair that is nominated by each of the partnership areas.
A Link Officer, who will be a senior NEDDC manager, attends each meeting and ensures that any issues raised or questions asked are either replied to on the night of the meeting or are fed back on at the next meeting.
