Tree Maintenance and Care
The Grounds Maintenance Team manage maintenance arrangements for the care of the District's urban and rural trees situated on Council land, Parish Council facilities and under agency arrangement with Derbyshire County Council on highway verges in parts of Clay Cross, Dronfield, Eckington and Killamarsh.
We work closely with other Council departments and outside bodies to ensure trees are protected in order to enhance our environment and improve the quality of life for our citizens.
The team act as advisors to the Council's planning body on matters relating to trees standing in Conservation Areas; trees with Tree Preservation Orders (TPO); trees protected by planning condition and special agreements. We may also be required to act as expert witnesses at planning and TPO Appeal hearings and Inquiries.
If you would like further information regarding Tree Preservation Orders or trees within conservation areas refer to the Council's Planning Information web pages.
We rely greatly on our residents for any information on actual or potential harm to the environment, including its protected trees and where justifiable, will promote to serve new tree preservation orders where trees of public amenity value are judged to be under threat of removal. Working within existing resource constraints, we will investigate unauthorised work and recommend enforcement action, where clear infringements occur.
If you would like further information regarding maintenance and care of trees contact our Grounds Maintenance team (details below).
