Tenancy and Floating Support for Vulnerable Tenants
Tenancy and Floating Support for Vulnerable Tenants
The Council through Rykneld Homes has a Tenancy Support Officer to provide advice and assistance to vulnerable tenants. The type of support offered for vulnerable tenants includes:
- ensuring clients are in receipt of all appropriate benefits
- helping with the completion of Housing Benefit and other claim forms
- referral to other appropriate support organisations e.g. Citizens Advice Bureau, Social Services
- assisting in home making and obtaining furniture from local furniture re-cycling projects.
- helping to obtain money from statutory and charitable organisations to help clients in serious difficulty
Clients who are referred to the Tenancy Support Officer can receive home visits and the support may last for several months to help someone to stabilise their home life, and where someone has moved into a new home, to help them to ensure they maintain it. There are also support organisations that can provide particular support for:
- Teenage parents
- Women fleeing domestic violence
- People with mental health support needs
- People involved in substance misuse
- People with learning difficulties
