Find out when you can inspect our accounts
Residents have the right to inspect our detailed financial accounts, ledgers and records.
Every year we are required to open our accounting records for public inspection and challenge over a set period of time (20 working days). These rights allow residents to check any spending under the £500 threshold without having to submit a Freedom of Information Act request. The inspection period for the year to 31 March 2012 is likely to begin in July 2012, but we will advertise the exact dates nearer the time.
Inspecting our accounts
During this period any person may inspect our accounts for that financial year and certain related documents (comprising books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts) at our Saltergate office. They may also make copies of the accounts and documents.
Asking Questions
If you are a registered elector in our area, you (or your representative), may ask the auditor questions about the accounts. Information about how to do this will be given in an advertisement which will be placed in local newspapers ahead of the inspection period.
Making Objections
An elector in our area, or their representative, may make an objection about our accounts. Full details of making an objection will be given in the advertisement.
If you have any queries about inspecting our accounts, please contact our Financial Services Manager, details below.
