Chair of the Council
Councillor Brian Wright is the Chair of North East Derbyshire District Council.
Councillor Wright, who represents the Clay Cross South Ward, took over the reins from outgoing Chair Councillor Ann Holmes in an official ceremony on Monday 23rd May 2011.
He has chosen Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People as the charity which will benefit from this year’s Chair’s Appeal.
Councillor Wright said “Having two adult children and four grandsons that give me a world of happiness and pleasure, I cannot begin to contemplate the heartache a parent suffers when losing a child.
"My wife Susan and I decided to support Rainbows after being moved by a visit to Rainbows to see the wonderful work they do.
"We both feel that children, and in particular Rainbows children, are among the most vulnerable of our society needing constant help.
"Rainbows is the only children's hospice in the East Midlands providing respite, treatment and end of life care for children and their families.
"We hope this years Appeal will help raise awareness and encourage others in the District to help."
Vice Chair of the Council
Councillor Ken Savidge who represents Clay Cross North Ward, has been elected as the Vice Chair of North East Derbyshire District Council for 2011/12.
