Welcome to my web page
My name is Norma Dolby and I am a North East Derbyshire District Councillor representing Sutton Ward.
I was elected in 2003 and represent the Labour Party.
I was Chair of the Council for the 2008/2009 municipal year. During my year in office, I raised funds for Leukaemia Research.
I hope you find the information you need on my web page, but if not please contact me - my details are at the bottom of the page.
A bit about me...
I have lived in Arkwright Town for 35 years and in that time I have worked hard in our village organising community activities for our school.
I became a Parish Councillor and School Governor, and during the Miners Strike, I gave out food parcels and fund-raised all over the country.
One of my best achievements was helping save our school from closure. When our school became a Community School, I helped run the Junior & Senior youth clubs, also the Darby & Joan club.
When our village knew we were going to be relocated across the road, I was appointed as History Tutor to document the history of our village; the village archives are stored in our village school. I later became "Writer in Residence" and "Local History Tutor" at Clowne College, following that I worked for Chesterfield College as "Creative Icing Tutor" which I still do privately for the people of our ward.
After writing my book "Norma Dolby's Diary", I joined the Labour Party. I am proud to serve on our District Council and since becoming elected I know I can continue being of service to our ward.
At the moment I am Chair of our Labour Party in our ward, Chair of the Community Centre and Vice Chair of our School Governors. I also run the Community Lounge which caters for activities for the elderly, so I feel in touch with the people who elected me.
I am very proud that the people of our ward have put their trust in me to serve our communities.
Council Groups and Committees
I am a member of the following:
Planning Committee
Economic Regeneration and Skills Scrutiny
I am also the vice-chair of the Planning Committee.
How Can I Help?
My aim as a local councillor is to serve the residents of Sutton and North East Derbyshire as a whole, but I can only do that if you let me know how I can help you.
