My name is Pamela Hemsley and I am a North East Derbyshire District Councillor representing Grassmoor Ward.
I was elected in 2007 and represent the Labour Party.

A bit about me...
Our family moved into Grassmoor in 1979 and since arriving I have found myself involved in most areas of our village community, firstly as treasurer to the playgroup, then later as a Mid-day Supervisor at our Primary School.
After joining our branch of the Labour Party I then became a member of Grassmoor Parish Council which led to my involvement in objecting to the proposed opencast mining of The Avenue Coking Site, although this application was approved the project did not go ahead and the objectors achieved their objective and the site was turned over to the East Midlands Development Agency to be cleaned up, as it was then considered to be one of the most contaminated sites in Europe and is now under going a massive remediation project.
Later I became a volunteer Youth worker as we set up our village youth club, this ran for a number of years in Grassmoor Community Centre but has now closed due to a lack of volunteers which are essential for a well run club. At the same time our village was applying for lottery funding to refurbish the Community Centre this was successful and over £900,000 was granted to us and the project was completed, we now have a modern resource for our village.
Recently I was involved in the opposition to the proposed In-Vessel Waste Composter in Grassmoor this application was turned down after many people campaigned and objected to it being sited here. Our village has a long history of dirty industries being sited here and we are now living in a much cleaner and greener environment than in the past and we would like it to stay that way.
I enjoy watching football and most other sports on television, in the past I was a regular supporter of Chesterfield Football Club along with my husband. We also enjoy caravanning, walking and spending time with our grandson. I am a member of Grassmoor Hasland and Winsick Parish Council, Grassmoor Community Centre Management Committee and a Governor at Grassmoor Primary School.
My aim is simply to assist anyone who needs help.
