My name is Jan Robinson and I am a North East Derbyshire District Councillor representing Holmewood and Heath Ward.
I was elected in 2008 and represent the Liberal Democrats.

A bit about me...
I was born in Temple Normanton and have lived in Canada, Holmewood, North Wingfield, Hasland, Burnley, London and now live in Wingerworth. Having lived in so many places around North East Derbyshire I feel I have got a good understanding of the needs of the people of the District.
I am married to Mark and have one son and two step-sons. I was educated at Tapton House and later returned to education to gain Basic Skills Adult Tutor qualifications then went to the University of Derby to gain an Honours Degree in Criminology and Sociology when I was 41.
Not satisfied with that, I started a Masters Degree in April 2008 in Housing, around the same time as being elected as District Councillor!
I worked for several years as a mobile warden for North East Derbyshire District Council and currently am a Tenancy Support Officer for one of the leading Arms Length Management Organisations in the country - Ashfield Homes Ltd. My experience in public sector housing has developed my passion for ensuring that the needs of tenants and their families are met by their local authority; this drives me in my work as a local councillor and Rykneld Homes board member.
I am also a parish councillor for Wingerworth, where I served alongside the late Terry Fisher, former District Councillor for Holmewood and Heath, who mentored me when I first came into local government. I was elected to the parish council in 2003 and now sit on several committees including the Youth Forum and Road Safety Committee.

I am a member of the Rykneld Homes board of directors, and I sit on the Asset Management sub group and Neighbourhood Services sub group.
