Welcome to my web page
My name is Harold Laws and I am a North East Derbyshire District Councillor representing Killamarsh West Ward. I was elected in 1991 and represent the Labour Party.
I hope you find the information you need on my web page, but if not please contact me - my details are at the bottom of the page.
A bit about me...
I was born in Killamarsh in 1934 and have lived here all my life. I served in the army from 1952 to 1955, in the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment.
I worked as a coal miner for 30 years, first at Westthorpe, Killamarsh and then at Kiveton Park in Sheffield. I finished work in 1985 and retired, it is then that I took up politics so I could help people in our community.
At the present time I am a member of the Killamarsh Steering Group and the Killamarsh Trust and my aim in life is to enhance the lives of people in Killamarsh.
I am also a Killamarsh Parish Councillor, and I am the lead member for "Village and Community" which includes bus shelters, the cemetery, wayside seats, play areas and many more aspects of village life. I try and work with young people through the local Youth Club. I am also a member of the Chesterfield Canal Partnership and the Chesterfield Community Transport group.
My hobbies are gardening and collecting toy soldiers. I am also a member of the National Trust and English Heritage, and am interested in history and other peoples cultures.
