The Register of Electors
The Register of Electors, also known as the Electoral Register or Electoral Roll, is the list of people that are registered to vote.
Each authority, such as North East Derbyshire, maintains and publishes its own register and uses it to produce poll cards to enable residents to vote in local and national elections and referendums.
There are 2 different registers based on the same set of information, the Full Register and the Edited Register.
The Full Register
The full register lists the name and address of everyone who is registered to vote.
The council holds a copy and it can be viewed at our main offices, details below. Anyone can look at it and the main use of the full register is to show everyone that can vote in elections and referendums.
Credit reference agencies can use it, but only to check your name and address if you are applying for credit and for other purposes specified in law.
You cannot choose to have your name and address withheld from the full register.
The Edited Register
The edited register is available for general sale and can be used for any purpose.
The edited register can be bought by any person, company or organisation and can be used for commercial activities such as marketing.
If you want to opt out of having your details appear on the edited register, you can indicate this on the voter registration form or the annual register of electors form.
