Member's Allowances and Expenses
Each year our elected members are paid a flat rate basic allowance designed to cover their time spent in meetings with officers and constituents and attendance at political group meetings; it is also intended to cover incidental costs.
A special responsibility allowance is also paid to those Councillors who perform special duties in relation to the Authority, for example the Council Leader, Deputy Leader and Cabinet members. Chairs and Vice Chairs of Council committees and boards are also entitled to a special allowance, full details can be found in our Interactive Constitution.
In addition to these allowances, members are entitled to claim out of pockets expenses incurred while carrying out council duties such as food, parking, accommodation and travelling costs.
