Advising the Council on the adoption or revision of the Members’ Code of Conduct. | To determine any issues referred to the Committee (except for any matter reserved to the Council Meeting). |
Monitoring the operation of the Members’ Code of Conduct. Advising, training or arranging to train Councillors and co-opted members on matters relating to the Councillors Code of Conduct. Granting dispensations to allow Councillors and co-opted members to take part in meetings where they have a prejudicial interest. Dealing with any reports from a Case Tribunal or Interim Case Tribunal, and any report from the Monitoring Officer on any matter which is referred by an Ethical Standards Officer or the Standards Committee to the Monitoring Officer. From 1st April 2008, determining whether to investigate or otherwise respond to complaints received alleging a breach of the Councillor Code of Conduct | |
To exercise the above functions for the parish councils wholly or mainly in its area and the members of those parish councils. Overseeing the whistle blowing policy. Overseeing complaints handling and Ombudsman investigations. |
