It's now even easier to make your voice heard on local issues thanks to our new Petition Scheme.
We've developed the scheme in line with new government guidelines which are designed to help you get more involved in local decision-making.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in North East Derbyshire – including under-18s – can sign or organise a petition and submit it to us.
Under the new rules, issues which attract a petition of 1,000 signatures or more could be debated by the Council.
Depending on the size and the subject of your petition, we may also:
- Take the action requested in the petition
- Hold an inquiry or public meeting about the issue
- Carry out research or public consultation about the issue
We will respond to your petition, regardless of the number of signatures, within 10 working days and let you know what we are going to do about it.
Paper petitions should be sent to the Chief Executive at the address shown below or you can arrange to present your petition at a Council meeting. You can also petition the council online, (more details below).
Full details of our Petitions Scheme are available in the document below, or you can contact our Governance Team for more information.
It’s now even easier to lend
YOUR Voice to the local issues that matter to you with our new e-petitions system.
You can view and sign existing petitions, see what action we've taken on completed petitions or even raise a new one yourself!
