Help us with our doggy dilemas!
This is where we advertise dogs that have been found as strays around North East Derbyshire in the hope of reuniting them with their owners.
If owners have not been traced we may then offer stray dogs for adoption, subject to a successful home check.
FOUND! 18 month old male German Shepherd / Akita Cross
Our dog wardens picked up this stray dog when he was found wandering on the Five Pits Trail in Holmewood, Chesterfield on Thursday evening (17 May 2012).
We’ve nicknamed him 'Alfie' and we think he's around 18 months old.
Alfie appears in good health and is a friendly dog. He was wearing a metal chain choker when he was found, but unfortunately has no microchip or identity tag.
If you've lost a dog of this description, or know who his owners are please contact us as soon as possible (details below).
If Alfie’s owners can’t be traced he will be available for re-homing on Friday 25 May. All adoptions are subject to a successful home check.
Join our dog adoption register
Our Dog Control Officers often pick up dogs that have strayed or have been abandoned, and while they do everything they can to get them back to their owners it isn't always possible.
We often need to move quickly, as stray dogs can only be kept in kennels for a week before being moved on. The sad thing is that if we can't find a new home or a place at a rescue sanctuary, then the dog will be put down.
If you are looking to re-home an unwanted dog, why not put your name on our Dog Adoption Register, we'll then let you know when a lonely pooch comes up for re-homing.
All adoptions are subject to a successful home check and their owners not coming forward beforehand.
