Managing the safety of events in Derbyshire
The County Events Safety Advisory Group is made up of representatives of the Police, Fire and Ambulance services, Derbyshire County Council Emergency Planning Division and Highways Division together with relevant District/Borough Council representatives.
The group meets with organisers of large events to discuss event safety issues.
Some of the areas covered are:
- event control
- traffic management
- stewarding
- first aid
- fire precautions
- emergency announcements
- signage
- layout of site
- entry/exit for spectators and emergency services
- procedures to be implemented if there is an incident at the event.
Event Plans are prepared for those events attracting large crowds, or those which have specific hazards attached to them to ensure, as far as possible, the safety of spectators.
Guidance for event organisers is currently being developed and will be available on all Derbyshire council websites shortly.
