The Planning Policy Team
The Planning Policy team deal with all matters concerned with the writing and interpretation of planning policies. This includes the North East Derbyshire Local Plan (November 2005), the Local Development Framework and the Derby and Derbyshire Joint Structure Plan (Feb 2001), as well as regional and national policy and guidance.
The Planning Policy team also, as part of its work in preparing the local plan, identifies sites for particular types of development and areas of open space and countryside which should be protected for a specific reason, for example Green Belt or Wildlife sites.
The Team is also involved in environmental improvement schemes through the East Derbyshire Woodlands Project, the Chesterfield Canal Partnership and other grant aid regimes. It co-ordinates the Tree Warden scheme and monitors the rate of housing and employment/industrial development in the district and maintains a database of previously developed sites which could be suitable for redevelopment.
