Asbestos Waste Disposal
Disposing of small quantities
You can take small amounts of Asbestos Waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Up to two roofing sheets and/or short lengths of gutters and pipes etc, may be taken, this does not include entire roofs or complete house guttering replacements and improvement type works. Asbestos that can be disposed of in this way is the grey, hard, brittle type of asbestos material. See our asbestos page for information about other types of asbestos and how to deal with it.
Disposing of larger quantities
Larger quantities are considered to be 'Commercial Waste' and you should need to employ a private licensed waste carrier to dispose of it for you. Registered contractors may be found in the Yellow Pages, Local Thomson Directory or online.
Handling Asbestos
You must 'double bag' or 'double wrap' the waste with plastic sheeting and ensure the asbestos material remains AS INTACT AS POSSIBLE. More information can be found in the asbestos advice section.
