Asbestos Waste Disposal

Disposing of small quantities

Residents may dispose of small quantities of Asbestos Waste at the Household Waste Recycling Centre situated at Stonegravels Chesterfield.

Up to two roofing sheets and / or short lengths of gutters and pipes etc, may be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre for disposal. However, this does not include entire roofs or complete house guttering replacements and improvement type works.

Disposing of larger quantities

Quantities greater than this are considered by the Waste Disposal Authority to be 'Commercial Waste'. Residents should make alternative arrangements with a private licensed waste carrier for the disposal of larger quantities. Such contractors may be found in the Yellow Pages or Local Thomson Directory.

Handling Asbestos

Residents are advised when delivering any asbestos waste to the Household Recycling Centre to 'double bag or double wrap' the waste with plastic sheeting and ensure the asbestos material REMAINS AS INTACT AS POSSIBLE.

General asbestos advice can be found in the Environmental Health section of the website.
