Details of all planning applications are held in our Online Planning System where you can find and comment on planning applications that are being considered near you. You can search for applications by property, application reference and even using a map. You can also track an application as it goes through the planning process.
Please note: you must register with us if you want to comment online or track an application.
All personal information provided to North East Derbyshire District Council will be held and treated in confidence in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. It will only be used for the purpose for which it was given, however if you choose to comment on a planning application your name and address will be publicly available as part of the planning process.

North East Derbyshire District Council is committed to the highest standard of quality information and every attempt has been made to present up to date and accurate information.
However, the Council makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability for any purpose of the information [and related graphics] published in this site. The information contained in this site may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. All liability of the Council for any loss, damage or inconvenience caused as a result of reliance on such information is expressly excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Neither the Council nor any of its employees or other representatives will be liable for loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the use of this site. This limitation of liability applies to all damages of any kind, including direct, indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, income or profit and claims of any third parties.
The exclusions and limitations of liability in this disclaimer do not exclude or limit the liability of the Council to you for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or that of our employees or representatives.
"Public Access" for planning is an on-line Internet service that allows you to view details of planning applications being considered by the Council as well as some planning history. You can monitor the progress of an application, submit comments about the application, search a constantly updated list of applications received and decided each week, view details of some historic applications, and view property details by reference to a map. By clicking on the 'Associated Documents' tab within Public Access, you can view current planning application documents on-line . These include plans, application forms, letters and decision documents that have been received in the last 6 months.
To accord with the Data Protection Act only documents which do not show personal information will be available to view on the website. Other documents can be still be viewed at the Council's Planning Reception on the second floor at The Council House, Saltergate.
The online planning history contained within the site at present is incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal "Land Charge Search". North East Derbyshire District Council will take no responsibility for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from "Public Access". Similarly the information contained within Public Access does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer's own risk.
Important - Copyright Notice
Planning application information submitted to the Council is protected by the Copyright Acts (Section 47, 1988 Act). You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.
If you link to "Public Access" you have acknowledged that you have read, understood and agree to the copyright and other limitations.
Under normal circumstances the new planning application information will be able to be viewed within 5 working days of receipt of the application. If this is not available you may wish to try a few days later.
Alternatively you are able to view all the planning application information in addition to the plans and associated documents at North East Derbyshire District Council's Offices at Council House, Saltergate, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S40 1LF during normal office hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. If you wish to make written comments on an application as opposed to using the online system you should address them to either the specific Case Officer given or the Planning Manager using the address given above.
You should note that in the case of a householder application, in the event of an appeal that proceeds by way of the expedited procedure, any representations made about the application will be passed to the Secretary of State and there will be no opportunity to make any further representations.
North East Derbyshire District Council reserve the right to remove or not display certain planning application information for confidentiality or other reasons.
Ordnance Survey Maps:
The maps in "Public Access" are for viewing only as they contain data supplied by Ordnance Survey and are therefore protected by copyright law. Use of this data is subject to terms and conditions:
i) “You are granted a non-exclusive, royalty free, revocable licence solely to view the Licensed Data for non-commercial purposes for the period during which North East Derbyshire District Council makes it available;
ii) you are not permitted to copy, sub-license, distribute, sell or otherwise make available the Licensed data to third parties in any form.
iii) third party rights to enforce the terms of this licence shall be reserved to Ordnance Survey”
