Extra Care Housing - Stonelow Court Site, Dronfield

Architectural design and visualisation by AA Design Ltd (0114 258 9571)

The new complex has been completed and people have moved in. Everyone is very thrilled with the project.  The apartments are well designed and the decor bright and colourful, residents are feeling less isolated, making friends and enjoy activities within the scheme.

The scheme is a partnership project between the County Council, North East Derbyshire District Council and North East Derbyshire Primary Care Trust, working alongside South Yorkshire Housing Association who developed the property and manage the scheme.

Funding for the scheme included almost £2million from the Housing Corporation and a donation of the land by the County Council.

Accommodation

The Extra Care complex provides accommodation for older people aged 55 years and over who may wish to live independently but need extra care and support.  While some people will need the extra care services only occasionally, other residents may need to have 24-hour care available.  It is expected that people will have been assessed by Social Services and are in receipt of a care package.

The extra care complex is the third of its kind in Derbyshire and provides 40 two-bedroom flats for rent, shared ownership or outright sale, plus eight one-bed intermediate care units.  A number of these units are suitable for wheelchair users.

As the properties become vacant they will be advertised for resale, rented properties will be reallocated according to the lettings agreement.

Special features of the complex include:

  • Some specially adapted kitchens for wheelchair users in one of the flats for sale and four of the rented flats

  • As well as the flats, a range of communal facilities are available including lounges, a restaurant, guest areas, assisted bathing, laundry services, an ICT suite, an activity area, a hairdressers and roof gardens and terraces.

Are you interested?

There is a waiting list for people interested for the future.  (Contact details below)  All applicants will have to complete a care needs assessment. This is a simple form followed by, if necessary a detailed assessment by social services, usually in your own home. This is to ensure we have a full picture of all your housing and support needs.
