Derbyshire County Council's Trusted Trader Scheme explained
What’s it all about?
We sometimes feel nervous calling workmen or women into our homes. That’s why Derbyshire County Council (DCC) set up Derbyshire Trusted Trader, to help you find honest and reliable tradesmen and women near where you live, and is available free of charge.
Who’s on the register?
There are more than hundreds of members, which makes it one of the biggest schemes in the country. There is everyone from builders, plumbers, roofers and glaziers, to electricians, gardeners, joiners and decorators. Traders have got to be based in Derbyshire or do at least half their work in the county to make our list.
So why should I trust Derbyshire Trusted Trader?
Traders who apply to join are carefully checked out by DCC's trading standards team. Among other things, the team will look for records of county court judgements or any previous complaints against a company.
How does it work?
All you have to do is phone Call Derbyshire* (details below) or search for a trader online in the Derbyshire Trusted Traders directory. You will be supplied with details of quality traders who commit to carry out honest work for a fair price, or just pop into your local Derbyshire library for help. We've attached a copy of the current list at the bottom of this page for quick reference.
* Call Derbyshire is open 8am to 8pm weekdays, 9.30am to 4pm Saturdays. An average three-minute call costs 10p for BT customers. Charges from other suppliers may vary.
Want to recommend someone as a Trusted Trader?
