Litter and Dog Waste Bins

Who is Responsible?

We will consider requests for waste bins on areas that fall under our responsibility. For example, on the highway or land in our ownership.

Local Parish Councils are responsible for the control of litter on their own recreation grounds, open spaces and land in its ownership.

When a request is received we will identify the land owner to establish the responsible body.

Requesting a waste bin

Requests for new bins to be erected or for existing bins to be replaced should be made to the Street Cleansing Section, contact details can be found below. When requesting a bin you will need to provide as much information as possible about the problem detailing why and how you think a waste bin would improve the situation.

On receiving a request an officer will carry out an assessment and decide if there is a need for a waste bin and which type of bin would be best for the situation. Once this has been decided the officer will contact you to let you know their decision.

It may not be possible to locate the bin in the exact area you suggest, in this case a suitable alternative location may be found.

Frequency of emptying bins

Frequency for emptying waste bins range from a daily service (within busy village centres) or once per week. Frequency of emptying will be established by waste accumulations and other demanding factors.

Requests regarding waste bins should be made to:
