Housing Ambition is a project covering North East Derbyshire, Chesterfield, Bolsover and Derbyshire Dales Local Authority areas. Funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government, The project has been set up to create a positive pathway into, through and between accommodation for young people (aged 16 – 24) in housing need.
The pathway will focus on prevention and includes a Schools homeless awareness program and a mediation service. Both of which aim to try and keep young people at home where possible and appropriate. The pathway also aims to establish a single point of entry across the four authorities so that any young person in housing need receives the same service wherever they approach for help / advice.
The project also includes a forum for professionals whose teams engage with young people and aims to build relationships, increase joint working to improve outcomes for young people. The forum is focused on delivering the projects objectives.
The main purpose of the Assessment is to identify potential sites for housing. The SHLAA does not allocate land for development but merely identifies the availability of land in our District that could be used for housing developments. The information that is gathered during this process will be used to inform our Local Plan. The Council is in the process of updating the SHLAA assessments in line with the renewed 2015 LAA methodology. A list of all SHLAA sites at June 2016 can be downloaded here.
