Arts and Disability Forum
What is this?
A group for Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire to:
· Consider better access to arts activities and venues for disabled people in this area,
· Listen to disabled people about the types of arts activities they would like,
· Work together on arts based projects and seeking funding to achieve them,
· Identify support required to encourage disabled artists in the area,
· Provide a network for issues surrounding arts and disability.
Why now?
· The idea for this forum has come from consultation work carried out for the new Joint Arts Development Strategy for both Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council in partnership with Arts Council England – East Midlands.
· In particular, it builds on ideas first suggested by Third Piper Community Arts and Ability in Chesterfield.
· This forum will be supported by the Arts Development Officer from MENCAP as it fits within their priorities for the region.
