Big Lottery Young People’s Fund

There has been a lack of good quality applications coming through from this region, so if you have a project that meets the Young People’s Fund criteria, you should have a good chance of success. Grants can range from £5,000 to £150,000 with an average of £75,000, of which no more than £30,000 can be for capital costs. Projects must be for young people aged 11-18 (or up to 25 for "disadvantaged" groups) and must provide activities, not just a service. Before you can apply you need to complete a fairly simple pre-application form to check that your project is eligible.

To find out more or obtain a pre-application form call 0845 410 20 30 or go to their website.

There are hundreds of different trusts and foundations that you could apply to but each one will have very strict guidelines and restrictions on how it can spend its money.  It is best to do some research into these before applying, and make sure your project fits their brief.

Running costs, both project and core costs, and capital costs are considered.   General appeals, promotion of religion, minibuses and projects that have already taken place are among the trust’s exclusions.  Contact: 01531633 345 www.joaniestrust.org.uk
