Welcome to Dronfield Sports Centre
Transformation for Dronfield leisure facilities
Work is now underway on the complete refurbishment of Dronfield Sports Centre, a scheme that will transform leisure facilities for local communities.
The centre closed on Monday 17 September 2007 and the refurbishment is likely to take up to 12 months. We had considered phasing the works to keep some parts of the service going, but the only realistic option was a full closure. See our progress so far.
Some of you have already been contacted about the club and course arrangements being put in place, and we have been working hard to identify alternative venues for activities in and around Dronfield – watch this space for more details.
Other local leisure opportunities are provided at Eckington Swimming Pool and Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross.

Regular updates on our refurbishment will be publicised on the Council’s web site and in the local media, with full details and plans available shortly.
The revitalised centre will open during summer 2008. As well as continuing with all of the current opportunities for sport, leisure and cultural activities, we have listened to your comments and suggestions over recent years and have come up with some exciting improvements. These will include:
- New 60 station Health and Fitness Suite
- Separate family-friendly changing rooms for swimming
- New male and female dry sports changing rooms
- Improved disabled access and changing facilities
- New social and catering area
- New access controls to improve security
- New meeting and training room.
Although the centre will be closed we won’t be going away! So, please keep checking our Leisure webpages if you would like any information about leisure opportunities in and around the area.
