The Derbyshire Coach Mark is a mixture of qualifications, workshops attendance and observation of coaching practice to ensure that coaches are fit for purpose and can deliver well organised, safe, fun, progressive, inclusive and well evaluated sessions to young people.
 
There are two levels of Derbyshire Coach Mark:

Provisional Derbyshire Coach Mark

 
In order to achieve this level coaches must:
 
  • Have a level 1 (assistant Coach) qualification in the sport(s) they coach
 
  • Have signed and agreed to abide by a Code of Conduct
 
  • Have an up-to-date enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check
 
  • Have attended a workshop on Safeguarding and Protecting Children
 
  • Have an up-to-date Emergency First Aid certificate
 
  • Have been observed and considered competent by a Derbyshire Coach Mark Observer.
 
Coaches who have been awarded the Provisional Derbyshire Coach Mark will hold a Coaching Card stating the sports/activities they are able to coach under supervision. The Provisional Coach Mark will be observed annually.

Full Derbyshire Coach Mark

 
In order to achieve this level coaches must:
 
  • Have all the requirements of the Provisional Derbyshire Coach Mark
 
  • Have a Level 2 coaching qualification in the sport(s) they coach
 
  • Have attended a course on the FUNdamentals of Movement
 
  • Have attended a course on coaching disabled people
 
  • Have attended a workshop on good practice when working within the school environment
 
  • Have appropriate insurance
 
  • Have progression schemes of work

Coaches who have been awarded the Full Derbyshire Coach Mark will hold a Coaching Card stating the sports/activities they are able to coach. The coach will be observed annually.

 
North East Derbyshire and North East Derbyshire School Sports Partnership run a number of information sessions so that clubs and individual coaches can sign up to the Club Mark process.
