Under 16? Over 60? You can Swim 4 Free with Swim 4 Life!
Swim 4 Life - what's it all about?
Until 31 July 2010, swimming is free for anyone aged 16 and under or 60 and over.
It's part of the Change 4 Life initiative by the NHS, designed to help us all be more active and more healthy.
It's also part of our Just Do More campaign.
How do I Swim 4 Free?
Fill in our short form and take it to one of our leisure centres with proof of your age and we'll process your card as soon as possible. (However you will still be able to use the facilities on your first visit)
Full details are on the form - you can download one at the foot of this page, or pick one up from any of our local offices, libraries, GP surgeries or schools.
Can I Swim 4 Free for ever?
Swim 4 Life will run initially for 2 years.
For people aged 60 years and over now, free swimming will finish on 31 July 2010.
For those who are 16 and under now, eligibility will end on their 17th Birthday or 31 July 2010 which ever comes first.
Where can I Swim 4 Free?
You can use your Swim 4 Life card at any council run pool in Derbyshire, and any other Local Authority who have taken part in the scheme.
Centres run by our neighbouring councils are listed on our Nearby Facilities page.
For centres further afield take a look at the Derbyshire Sport website.
Why should I swim?
Swimming regularly will make you fitter and improve your health.
It can be a very sociable activity and a great way to meet new friends. It is also an excellent way for families to spend ‘quality time’ together.
All in all it’s a perfect way to relax and de-stress in a safe environment.
What if I can't swim?
Learning to swim, whether you are old or young can be lots of fun and it will keep you safe when you are in or around water.
We provide high quality swimming lessons for both children and adults and you will be amazed at how quickly you can learn the skills you need to enjoy the swimming experience.
