The swimming pool at Dronfield Sports Centre is due to temporarily close on 8 December 2014 for 10-weeks so essential improvements can be undertaken.
This investment will see works such as new pool liners in each pool, improved steps, under water LED lighting, new windows, upgraded changing room areas with improved drainage, new shower facilities and separate air handling (temperature) systems.
The good news is that this investment will provide an improved leisure facility – and at no extra cost to you – but there will inevitably be some disruption to our services and parts of the building.
It will be business as usual for most of the centre, as users will still have full use of the fitness suite, fitness classes and sauna suite. However, some disruption to sports hall activities and squash courts during the day time may occur and the dry changing rooms may also be closed, meaning that both sets of changing rooms will be unavailable to the public for a period of time!
We therefore advise that, wherever possible, you come to the centre dressed and ready to take part in your chosen activities. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we feel the improvements being made will be worthwhile and to the benefit of the centre’s users in the long-term.
Those who have swimming lessons and other activities booked in the pool during the proposed period of closure have been notified. In addition, you can use the swimming pools at our other leisure facilities; Eckington Swimming Pool and Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross.
There are two pools at Dronfield sports Centre:
A main swimming Pool, 25m x 8.5m; Water depth 1m-2m
A small pool 8.5m x 6m; Water depth 0.5m-0.75m
Both pools are open seven days a week and cater for a wide range of activities including:
Women only sessions
The small pool is used extensively for swimming instruction at various levels. Additional classes also take place in the main pool using one or more lanes or occasionally the boom which sections off either the shallow end or the deep end width ways.
The temperature of the pools is normally set between 29 and 31 degrees.
You can find out what session is on when across all three of our centres through our swimming session finder, or take a look at a copy of our timetable below. Please be aware that during School Holidays the programme may change slightly for Kids activities, we advise you to contact us before attending to check the daily timetable.
