Swimming Lessons

What is happening with swimming lessons from February 29th 2023?

NEDDC have been working hard to form a partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council (CBC). This partnership will enable us to provide up to 500 places for children to continue to learn to swim during the closure. Full details have been sent to all our swimming lesson customers.

Will the class numbers still be the same as before the closure?

The new classes will be run by CBC. Thier class sizes Terms and Conditions will apply.

What will the cost of these lessons be?

All customers will move over to CBC price structures

Price list for block booking of 12 lessons:

25 Minute class £86.40 for non members and £78 for members.

55 Minute class £117.60 for non members and £106.80 for members.

Monthly Direct Debit:

Direct debit for 25 minute classes £30pm Non member and £27.08.

Direct debit for 55 minute classes £40.83 for non member and £37.08 for members.

If I need to speak to someone regarding my child’s swimming lessons how do I contact them?

CBC will be running all lessons at their pools.

Will I be able to watch my child’s lesson?

Yes CBC have viewing areas to watch your childs lesson.

My child is on the waiting list for swimming lessons, when will you start to re-enrol?

Yes waiting lists will be frozen and all will be contacted in good time prior to Clay Cross Active opening.

Will I be given the chance to move back to Clay Cross Active when the new centre is opened?

Yes all children who have previously attended our learn to swim programme will be given priority and contacted prior to opening.

Fitness classes

Where are the classes taking place?

All classes will continue to run at the same community venues throughout the closure.

This includes-

  • Coney Green Business Centre - (evening classes). Find out more information on our fitness classes page.
  • The Bret Club - Clay Cross, (daytime classes). Find out more information on our fitness classes page.

How do I book onto them?

You can book online via our website!

You can take out a specific class membership for community classes in Clay Cross. This is a Direct Debit membership- more information can be found on our memberships pages.

Payment links via email are available for classes such as Walking Netball and Forever Active.

How can I pay for them?

Daytime classes – you can pay as you go using the leisurehub platform (insert leisurehub link) or you can sign up to a Temporary Daytime class direct debit membership (£18 per month). This membership covers the daytime classes held at the Bret Club and Dicky Tickers Monday evening class at Coney Green only. It also includes Walking Netball and Forever Active.

Payment links via email are available for classes such as Walking Netball and Forever Active.

Flex 1 – Class Only membership – This membership is a direct debit and covers all classes held at the Bret Club and Coney Green Business Centre (£23 per month).

You can sign up to a membership online via leisurehub or at Sharley Park Leisure Centre before 29th February.

For classes taking place at Coney Green members can continue to access them through their Flex 1 Class membership.

Can I pay cash or card for my session at the venue?

No, if you are wanting to pay as you go you will need to book and pay via LeisureHub.

Are they run by the same instructors?

The same instructors will continue to run the sessions- however cover may be needed to accommodate annual leave requests and any sickness cover.

Will there be space to get changed?

Unfortunately, there are no changing rooms at Coney Green Business Centre or at Bret Club. Please come ready to exercise.

What should I take with me to the venue?

Please bring along your booking and payment confirmation and a drink.

Direct Debit memberships

What will happen to my membership payments?

Your membership payments will be automatically frozen during our closure period. This means you cannot use any of our other sites whilst SPLC is closed.

If you would like to use our other sites at Dronfield, Eckington and Killamarsh, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can move your membership to another site and your Direct Debit will be collected as normal.

You may also cancel your membership if you wish to do so. Cancellations can be done by cancelling the Direct Debit for your membership with your bank.

Do I need to cancel the Direct Debit at my bank?

Yes, we would always advise this even if you have filled out a membership cancellation form at site.

Can I freeze my membership?

Your membership payments will be automatically frozen during our closure period if you do nothing. This means you cannot use any of our other sites whilst SPLC is closed. Your membership will be automatically restarted when CCA opens.

Will I automatically get a membership at the new Clay Cross Active (CCA)?

Yes, if you are a current member on a direct debit membership your membership will reactivate when the site opens. You will be notified of this via email – so please makes sure we have your up to date email address.

PAY-AS-YOU-GO(PAYG)/Concessionary/ Leisure Pass memberships

What will happen to my membership as I have days/weeks/months left that have been paid for?

You won’t lose any days/weeks/month you have remaining after the 29th of February 2024, this will be transferred to your existing membership at new CCA.

Gymnastics lessons

Are gymnastics lessons continuing after February 29th 2024?

Yes, the sessions will continue to be held at Grassmoor Community Centre during the closure of SPLC. For more information, check our Gymnastics Activities page.

How will these be paid for?

You will pay for a 10 week block, an email will be sent out via WorldPay with a link to make a payment, which will need to be paid before the start of the new block.

I have credits owed, how will these be repaid?

Refunds will only be issued due to series illness/injury or if the session has been cancelled.

Will you be enrolling new children on to the lessons?

Yes we will, you can enrol online.

Will my child automatically get a place on Gymnastics lessons at the new Clay Cross Active?

Yes, if you are currently on our gymnastics program.

Exercise by Referral scheme

Will the Exercise by Referral Scheme continue to run during the closure of SPLC?

Yes, the scheme will still take place at Dronfield Sports Centre, Eckington Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre and Killamarsh Active. You can access neighbouring council’s Exercise by Referral Scheme, please contact your GP surgery or Live Life Better Derbyshire for more details.

Can I use my membership at other centres?

Yes, this includes, Dronfield Sports Centre, Eckington Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre and Killamarsh Active.

What will happen to my membership as I have days/weeks/months left that have been paid for?

You won’t lose any days/weeks/month you have remaining after the 29th of February 2024, this will be transferred to your existing membership at the new CCA.

Will the Exercise by Referral Scheme be running at the new CCA site?

Yes, the scheme will run exactly as it did at SPLC.

Can I still access fitness classes?

Yes, fitness classes can be accessed at the Bret Club. Terms and conditions apply.
