Chair’s Charities

Councillor Antcliff is keen to use her year in office as First Citizen of the District to raise money and awareness for two charities.  These are Alzheimer’s Research UK and the National Deaf Children’s Society.

Alzheimer’s Research UK

Alzheimer’s Research UK’s mission is to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025.  They have a vision of a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.  Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.  They fund a broad range of research projects to understand dementia and drive towards better diagnosis and treatments.

The National Deaf Children’s Society

The National Deaf Children’s Society has a vision of a world without barriers for every deaf child and work to overcome social and educational barriers that can hold deaf children back.  The charity helps families give the best possible support to their deaf child every step of the way.  Deaf children and young people are at the heart of their work and they make sure their needs come first, and they help others do the same.  They give expert unbiased support to help deaf children and their parents make informed choices about their lives.  They also work together with others to positively challenge unfairness.
