North East Derbyshire District Council to Operate Killamarsh Sports Centre
Killamarsh Sports Centre is set to be given a new lease of life after it was agreed North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC) would take over the running of the site and invest £1m to improve the facility.
We are undertaking an extensive refurbishment and the introduction of modern fitness studios, a huge 70 station gym with the latest equipment and much more besides.
The sports centre will partially open again in May, subject to government Covid guidance, however, gym, squash courts, fitness classes, casual bookings for sports hall, etc. will be unavailable for a period to allow for the refurbishment works to take place safely and as quickly as possible.
The sports centre will be open to existing block bookings in the sports hall and 3G outdoor football pitch. We will be in contact with these groups in the coming weeks to discuss the options that are available. The Killamarsh Bears Pre-School will also remain open throughout this period and beyond.
During this period, we’d love to welcome you at Eckington Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre (or any of our other facilities) where our staff will be happy to meet you and support you on your fitness journey. Eckington Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre is only a short drive from Killamarsh and has ample free parking available. The facility offers a modern, 60 station gym, fitness studio with live and Virtual classes and swimming pool. Our memberships are available from as little as £23.00/month with no ongoing commitment and allow you to use all of our sports facilities in Killamarsh, Eckington, Dronfield and Clay Cross. You can sign up for a membership online now by visiting: www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk/leisurehub
