Bowled over by fundraising effort for hospice

We’ve been bowled over by the amount raised for our Chairman’s charity appeal.

Holymoorside Bowling Club staged an afternoon of fun to raise £2,113.43 for Cllr Martin Thacker’s chosen charity – Ashgate Hospicecare.

Chairman of North East Derbyshire District Council, Cllr Martin Thacker, said: “The bowling green provided a wonderful focal point for an event which was extremely well supported by the local community.

“I am grateful to Holymoorside Bowling Club for their hard work and staging an amazing afternoon.

“My thanks are also extended to Audrey Broderick who agreed to a germ of an idea and turned it into something special.

“Thank you to all who came and contributed to a fantastic amount of £2,113.43 for the hospice.”

The event included a number of stalls and crown green bowling, and was a chance for people of all ages to have a go at bowling and realise hidden talents!

A special appearance from six alpacas, courtesy of Peaky Pacas, was a chance to see these adorable animals close up.

There was also a bowls competition between Holymoorside Bowls Club and Holymoorside Tennis Club for the inaugural charity trophy presented by Cllr Thacker.
