Charity concert raises £1,100 for Ashgate Hospicecare

Talented musicians hit all the right notes to help raise £1,100 for Ashgate Hospicecare.

Chesterfield Male Voice Choir staged an evening of music with a varied programme, to raise funds for the Chairman of North East Derbyshire District Council’s appeal for the hospice.

Their repertoire included songs from the long running musical ‘Les Miserables’ and hits from Elvis Presley.

There was a rousing solo rendition of ‘If I were a Rich Man’ from the Choir’s Chairman, Mike Spriggs and the concert also featured guest performer Will Parker.

Will is a hospital doctor, currently British Heart Foundation Clinical Training Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield and Registrar in Cardiology at the Northern General Hospital. He entertained the packed audience with several George Formby classics.

North East Derbyshire District Council Chairman, Councillor Martin Thacker MBE, said: “I am grateful to the choir and Will Parker for sharing their talents to realise a magnificent £1,100 for my charity appeal.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and all in aid of a good cause.”
