North East Derbyshire District Council has launched the next round of its Community Action Grants Scheme with funding of up to £500 available to community groups in the District for projects that support residents to tackle local issues in the area.
The funding is available to formally constituted groups and non-constituted groups who are sponsored by an organisation who will act on their behalf, such as a Town or Parish Council or other constituted group. The scheme is not open to businesses.
The grants are to fund initiatives that support the delivery of the Council Plan, which include;
- community events
- local community improvements
- helping promote physical activity
- reducing social isolation
- raising awareness of climate change
- improving recycling rates and reducing litter
- enhancing biodiversity
- supporting development of local volunteers and groups
- addressing parking issues
- reducing anti-social behaviour
Councillor Alan Powell, Cabinet Member for Housing, Communities and Communications said, “Local groups are encouraged to apply for this funding to tackle issues and make a great positive difference in their community. We recognise that supporting residents and communities is vital to help encourage projects and ideas that may otherwise not be able to start without these grants.”
Subject to remaining funds, the deadline for applications is 31st March 2021, however applications will be assessed by the Council as they are received.
