Community victory festivals in July

Last year was 75 years since the victory in Europe and Japan and the nation commemorated the end of the Second World War by celebrating at home.

The Council, in partnership with Clay Cross and Killamarsh Parish Councils have organised “Victory Festivals” on Saturday 17 July, free events open for all the community to celebrate and commemorate these occasions.

Staring Lorrie Brown, award winning Vera Lynn tribute singer, Highland bagpipes, stilt walker and juggler, vintage vehicles and lots more.

Evening Celebration from 7pm

Featuring the fantastic female vocalist ‘Blue Savannah’

At both events, under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress to impress in 1940’s style (optional!)

Cllr Alan Powell, Cabinet Member for Housing, Communities and Communications said “Last year we were all unable to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day in a way that was planned. These events will be an opportunity for the whole community to come together and honour those who gave their lives for us during World War Two and brought peace to Europe 76 years ago. It will also be a celebration for people of all ages to get together, have some fun and enjoy the community spirit”.
