Council adopts policy to regulate sex establishments

North East Derbyshire District Council has approved plans to adopt legislation allowing them to regulate sex establishments if any are established in the district.

There aren’t any known sex establishments currently in North East Derbyshire and the legislation approved would allow the authority to regulate and give members of the public the opportunity to have their say should anyone wish to set an establishment up in the area.

North East Derbyshire District Council Leader, Cllr Alex Dale said, “We welcome this decision as it gives us the power to regulate sex establishments with the new legislation and work with our communities to maintain civic pride.

“We are a district council which is passionate about reducing anti-social behaviour, keeping everyone safe and these new powers will enable us to do just that”.

The new policy was open for a 13 week consultation period where responses were fed back to the Licensing Committee.
