North East Derbyshire District Council Chairman presented Lily Wright of TS Danae Sea Cadets her Civic Cadet award at a recent ceremony.
The event took place at TS Danae headquarters and the Chairman was welcomed by staff and cadets at the unit and given a tour of the premises.
The Chairman witnesses first-hand the great work the Sea Cadets are doing and giving positive opportunities to young people in their organisation.
Lily is one of three Civic Cadets appointed by the Chairman for the forthcoming twelve months in what has been the first opportunity to present her with the award and uniform badge.
Cllr Martin Thacker, Chairman of North East Derbyshire District Council said: “It is a great honour to visit the Sea Cadets and see the fantastic work they are doing and helping younger people”.
“It is great to finally get chance to present Lily with her award and the other cadets will be joining me on Civic events throughout the year to aid my fundraising for Ashgate hospicecare”.
