Council set to revamp local play areas in North East Derbyshire

North East Derbyshire District Council is continuing its commitment to invest in local communities by refurbishing two more play areas in the district at Killamarsh and North Wingfield.

Both Crofters Close play area in Killamarsh and Elvaston Road play area in North Wingfield will see extensive changes in the coming weeks, boasting a fantastic array of equipment for a variety of ages and abilities to enjoy.

Crofters Close play area will see the council replacing and upgrading the existing junior multi play unit, and replacing the safety surfacing on all four pieces of equipment. Elvaston Road play area in North Wingfield will have the existing multi play unit replaced, a new springy seesaw and the safety surfacing will be replaced. The works will also include replacing the bench, removing the existing wooden animal and replacing the existing fencing along the rear boundary. 

The installations are currently scheduled to commence on Thursday 23rd February (weather permitting) and the play areas reopening week commencing 6th March. 

North East Derbyshire District Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, Cllr Charlotte Cupit said, “We are passionate about helping our district’s families, offering a safe and fun experience for the young ones is important. The range of equipment at both sites will allow both social and imaginative play, and physical challenges. This is something for both Killamarsh and North Wingfield communities, and particularly young people, to enjoy for years to come and continues our commitment to invest in our communities as we have just completed the revamp of another play area in Dronfield”
