North East Derbyshire District Council have been busy supporting local businesses during the COVID-19 crisis and has today received £20m from the Government to help fund grants to small businesses and those in the retail, leisure and hospitality business.
During the last few days the Authority has contacted over 1800 businesses throughout the District to assist them in accessing financial support and continue to provide ongoing help to those in need.
The Council has been working tirelessly to help support their businesses and have also been working around the clock helping residents with various issues including food, medication and heating which desperately need.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, MBE, said, “While we are in the midst of a global pandemic, our businesses need us now, more than ever. This is where we can offer our expert advice and support, enabling the businesses to receive the financial help and guidance they are looking for”.
“It is astounding that we have already helped our businesses receive £20 million pounds worth of help in such a short time”.
“Our work does not stop there however, we are continually in contact with the business community, monitoring the situation and are always available to provide support and clarity for our businesses during these unprecedented times”.
The Council is asking residents of the District who are self-isolating or who are vulnerable, to complete an online registration form on their website www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk or by calling 01246 231111 so that contact can be established and provisions can be out in place to administer help.
