North East Derbyshire District Council can confirm that the Festival of Brass due to take place on 21 June 2020 has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
With the safety of all involved being paramount, alongside the uncertainty around the current global situation, it is in the best interests of all parties to postpone the festival until further notice.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, MBE, said, “All efforts are being made to protect the residents and businesses in the District and this difficult time and the Festival of Brass is something we were looking forward to”.
“However, all our efforts are needed to ensure people are staying at home to reduce the spread of this virus”.
“While June is some time away, it makes sense to take precautionary advice and postpone the eagerly anticipated event until it is appropriate to do so”.
“We wish all our bands who were due to take part all the very best in the near future and we will be establishing a new date for this amazing festival as soon as we can”.
“We welcome those who were due to take part do so again when the time is right”.
Brass bands who had booked the Festival will be refunded in full and notified of the new date, time and venue in due course.
